Canadian police say they have arrested a man for destroying thousands of photos that show him and his wife having sex in a Quebec park
A Canadian man has been arrested in Montreal on suspicion of destroying hundreds of thousands of images of himself and his two children being intimate with a woman who was not their mother.
The photos are part of a cache of about 10,000 images of sexual activity that police say were destroyed by the man.
The man is in custody and is facing multiple charges.
The woman, who is in her 30s, is not believed to be the mother of the man’s children.
She is expected to appear in court on Monday.
Canadian law enforcement agencies say the photos were taken at the home of the couple in Montreal’s Saint-Denis neighborhood in 2015.
Police said the couple’s daughter was present at the time.
A police spokesman said the photos of the woman’s genitals were found in the home and that investigators were trying to determine how many people may have viewed them.
Police did not immediately release a description of the suspect.
Authorities have not released a motive for the photos or a potential victim.
The RCMP says the man was arrested Thursday in the eastern province of Quebec.
He was in possession of a large quantity of stolen goods and a gun, police said in a statement.
The Quebec provincial police said the woman is not a suspect in the case.
The police department said it was not aware of any charges filed against the man but that he could face charges of sexual assault or child pornography.
