When the Jets can’t beat the Chiefs again: ‘It’s just a matter of time’
With the Jets facing another season-ending injury, this year’s comeback is more important than ever.
The Jets will play two more games against the Chiefs, this time on Thursday night in Kansas City.
The Jets have lost five straight games dating back to the 2015 season, including a 27-23 loss to the Chiefs in Week 2.
The Chiefs, though, have a new look to their offense under Alex Smith, who led the NFL in passing efficiency (87.4) last season, and has a much more explosive attack.
The Chiefs also rank first in the NFL with 2,076 rushing yards and 24 rushing touchdowns, which are tied for the most in the league.
The Broncos rank second in the NFC with 1,719 rushing yards, but are just 3-2 since Smith took over as quarterback.
The last time the Jets were to win three straight games, they were 6-1 in the regular season and 6-2 in the playoffs.
They also beat the Colts in the Wild Card Round.
If the Jets win the first game, they would clinch home-field advantage in the AFC East.
If they lose to the Broncos, they’ll face a fourth-place Chiefs team in the first round.
